TIERRA DEL FUEGO

As astonishing as the fjords of Tierra del Fuego are, it is one of the least known and explored by tourists. Pristine, wild and magnificent, it is difficult not to stand in awe before such spectacle of nature. And nobody describes this better than Charles Darwin himself: “We feel surprise when travellers tell us of the vast dimensions of the Pyramids and other great ruins, but how utterly insignificant are the greatest of these, when compared to these mountains of Stone” “It is scarcely possible to imagine anything more beautiful than the beryl-like blue of these glaciers, and especially as contrasted with the bright green woods and the dead white of the upper expanse of snow. The fragments which had fallen from the glacier into the water were floating away, and the channel with its icebergs presented, for the space of a mile, a miniature likeness of the Polar Sea.” - Charles Darwin when navigating through the Beagle Channel, 1831.

“We found, almost by miracle, a strait that we called “of All Saints.” This strait that is one hundred and ten leagues long, about one hundred and forty miles, and almost as wide as half a league, and connects to another sea, which we called Pacific Ocean… This is surrounded by great beauty and high mountains covered with snow.
